Amesbury Cohort Weekend 1

This blog has been created for the course, EEDUC 5136: Integrating Social Studies into the Elementary Classroom under the instruction of Mrs. Julie Keefe. This is the third course in the Lesley University Elementary Education Masters program. We have learned a great deal about the Massachusetts Social Studies Frameworks. We will be creating a social studies lesson plan based on the frameworks for the grade that we desire to teach. Today (April 26 , 2009) we learned a kinesthetic way of teaching latitude and longitude with the use of geocaching.  We also learned about a great resource to have extra materials in the classroom for advanced students who finish work early. This was called "Take it to your seat" work, a book by Evan Moor.
